These plates are most commonly used for the bonnet of your car when you do not have a place to put a traditional acrylic plate.  Our plates are reflective and pass the BSAU145d reflective tests.  The font is the legal UK Car font (New Charles Wright) cut to the correct height of 79mm.  However these plates are NOT road legal - Why?  We believe it is because these number plates use to be sold in kit form, which meant people could make their own plates up at home.  DVLA did not want the consumer making their own plates as the room for error would be far greater.  Pre-September 2001 these plates were always seen as acceptable, but since the change in legislation people have become more conscious about putting them on their vehicle.

Anyway, we sell these plates ready made for you in three different colours - reflective white (front), reflective yellow (rear/trailer/caravan) and black (pre 1973).  NOTE these plates are sold as SHOWPLATES because they cannot be purchased as road legal and shipped from EIRE
